Differences:
1. Illustrator is vector based while Photoshop is based on pixels.
2. Photoshop is used to manipulate photo/graphic images like changing the color, brightness or contrast. Illustrator
is a drawing program and which handles using text.
3. Photoshop is mainly for photos and Illustrator is mainly for starting things from scratch.
